Whats the deal with Surf /safari?

I,ve been hearing mixed reactions to this Safari Surfboards company from South Africa.

Has anyone seen these blanks?

I hear the samples from last year before clarke closed where alright but nothing now?

i’m looking for a supplier but don’t want to trust to much in one product…

I posted some contact info on Safari. I have no experience with the company or the foam but am hoping to get a few blanks soon.

I’ve read posts from someone who has not identified himself by real name or location and provides no contact info. I take any info from unidentified sources with a grain of salt.

There are also some posts in the Surfcraft News section regarding some changes with Spyder Surfboards. Spyder and Safari Foam are affiliated.

If you consider the above info and “read between the lines” it might make sense if someone was affected by some sort of restructuring that they would have an axe to grind.

Sorry, I have no inside scoop, Scoop. Maybe buy one of the smaller (cheaper) blanks and shape it? Please let us know how it turns out.

spider murphy own safari.

when clark closed, they promess foam to a lots of people but they could never deliver.

i heard that its a relly nice foam but hard to get at the moment because of the limit in production.

those guys have 3 kkl machine running full time, its one of the biggest name in SA.

they know what they are talking about in terms of foam. too bad, they wanted more that they could make…

scoop,

There’s no information in your profile as to where you’re located so, don’t know what direction to point you to find Safari blanks. Check John’s post in the industry notes for suppliers.

Someone here recently referred to a somewhat interesting post by Steve Boehne of Infinity Surfboards on his site.

www.infinitysurfboard.com under “News” - Clark foam fiasco

In it, he mentions that he ordered a container of blanks from Safari. I would think that a man with his experience would have to have some faith in the product to put out that kind of money - reportedly $60,000 for 700 blanks.

Expecting to get some myself soon - will post results…
