Whats the difference between Lam resin and Gloss??

I know it sounds like a dum question, but, how do they differ?? Does the gloss contain wax or something like the hotcoat resin?? By the way, thanks guys for the fin box tricks, she went in like a dream!! Laters Peaman

Laminating Resin is the base resin Hot Coat or Sanding Resin is Laminating Resin with a sanding compound (styrene wax solution) added. The sanding compound will produce a wax on the out resin skin which seals the board from air. This make the resin harden and sandable. Gloss Coat is a resin similar to sanding resin but provides a harder surface for sealing the board. Gloss Coat is thinner than sanding resin and has UV inhibitors. After sanding coat, gloss coat is great for sealing the board up. Some builders use gloss coat, others do not. It is a personal preference. The wax is only for polyester resin. Epoxy does not need to be sealed from the air like polyester resin to harden.>>> does the wax work with epoxy?? http://www.viser.net/~anthwind/

The wax is only for polyester resin. Epoxy does not need to be sealed from > the air like polyester resin to harden. No, but when you use a vacuum bag or a plastic layer when you glas it, it sands waaaaaaaay better. Peter Rijk.
