when bad things happen...

well, I just finished rinsing off a 9'4 volan glassed 'magic sam' derived board I built....woohoo. I was ready for an evening surf and my 9'4 was ready to be baptized in the sea...Wait...I'll take some pictures first. the wind came up and blew it over on top of the sawhorses it was resting on. the sawhorse's pointy side was pointing upward and the heavy board fell right on the point. there is a big gash, so after a hard day's work I have to do ding repair...crap. Pics coming soon... waiting for the filler/resin mix to cure..then surf...then pics tonight or tomorrow...I am bummed out

well it's sea worthy again. gonna go surf it. I'm sure worse things have happened to brand new boards(ie. falling off the car on the freeway). it should be fun

Hey dude I did that with a new board I made for my brother. I actually got a shot of it falling over. I had it resting against my house where I always take the shots, but the wind picked up and bam. Luckily I glassed it heavy and the damage wasn’t real bad. Now I have a piece of cord that holds the boards securely.

I had batoes ( member here ) come around to see my setup. Before he came around i leant one of my boards up against the shed wall, but my foot caught the leggie, over it went, and fell deck first onto the 1/4'' thick steel feet of my shaping stands. Spewing because its never been dinged and its only 4x4 deck!!. Lucky i had some solarez ( that shit is freaking awesome for small dings!! ) handy. 10 mins and it was patched up.

Board looks unreal, if you're unahppy with the cosmetics, send it to me!!

looks good nice board

I dinged a brand new Harbour goin out the shop door just as the guy said "whach out for the door!"

I was selling my bro's board and had it up against the wall as i steped back to snap some pic down it slid into the stair railing

took two inches off the nose, the board was like new.

thanks, just rode it and it is super fun. carves smoothly and it noserides well for a board with a 17" nose. I am very happy with it...it is just a bummer when not thinking things through results in bad things like geting dings before you even wax the thing. I'll blame it on the resin fumes :)

Howzit astevens,Look at it this way,now you don't have to worry about the first ding. Aloha,Kokua

ahh... the glass is half full...I guess youre right about not not worrying about the first ding.  well now its over and all I have to worry about is surfing it which is always a good thing. moral of the story: use straps to secure the board before picture taking

its one of those things that you freak out about because you created this, but show it to your friend he probably doesn’t even notice it and instantly wants to steal it from you and ride the piss out of it.
