There is little specific info in the archives on this one. After cutting the outline and foiling? Before or after the bottom rail edge and deck bands? I would think after foiling and bottom contour. But how do you then keep a clean rail line around the wing area? Maybe treat in front of the wing, and behind it, as two seperate rails (work on each seperately)? Thanks for your time- Twig
Twiggy, Cut in the wings after the board is roughed out. There are several ways to blend the wings into the rail. This will depend on the rail line itself. The latest way would be to continue the wing up onto the rail so there’s a real abrupt break. The old way is to foil the wing down to the lower part of the rail and keep an even contour to the rail at the deck line. all aloha, tw
