I’m trying to get my hands on a block of 1lb. eps. Where would i be able to find this in the orange county area? Or do I need to order from some distant supplier? Any suggestions would be great! thanx.

Don’t let the area code frighten you.
Google Architectural Foam. The supplier I use (Foamation in Los Angeles) even hotwires the rocker for free!
I second AFOAF’s tip - Ken has a bunch of foam in block form. I’m not sure about 1 lb. He might be able to sell you a block, hotwire your profiles, or even machine pre-shape the blanks for you to your own design. The shaping program is a free download on his website. Give him a call or shoot him an email.
Segway definitely has 1lb density EPS.
I’m shaping a 12’ 1lb density SUP blank I got from him.
Or, of course, you could go and support a business that’s done little to nothing to foment
good works or charity in this community of ours like Ken has.
And Ken uses good clean EPS. That building stuff can be pretty rough sometimes. Virgin beads vs recycled stuff, also bead size is important, also how much pentane they use in the fusing process. All these questions are non questions if you go through Ken.
Kens foam is for surfboards 1st, then 2nd if you want to build a 50 ft replica of the Eiffle Tower.
I used Kens foam to build my seal decoys that I tow behind the 20 ft Seal Slayer 2000.
I don’t know the answer, since I’m new to this EPS stuff, but I read in someone’s
posting that Bert liked the recycled EPS stuff. Something about the flexibility
and the shearing.
I would bet that recycled EPS would do well with compsand-type construction techniques where the structures isnt reliant on the core. If you are just going to straight glass it, I would be hesitant to use “regrind” EPS.
I buy my Resin Research epoxy resin from Graphite Master. You will see Graphite Master on the Swegway web site. You might be able to work out a deal and get some foam delivered. Why One pound???
