The side and over head lights are 12 feet long. The company that owns the Channin property built it for me. 12 footers are no problem. Jim

wow – very nice situations!>>> i am transforming my shed into such a place this winter.>>> thanks for the input. I enclosed half of my mom’s garage after she decided she only needed one car. That was 11 yrs ago. It’s 14’x8’. It’s too low to hold anything over 7’6" upright, but it does the job. I usually take a while to shape a board. Draw and cut out the outline one day. Foil and bottom curves on another. Rails and final sanding on another day. Takes me awhile but I get it done and of the 36 boards I’ve shaped I’ve only disliked 3 of them, which is a better record than I had than when I bought boards. Hope you get yours done so you can do some serious whittlin’.
I shape in my two car detached garage. Plenty of room. I can make as much noise as I like without bothering the wife. I have simple homemade shaping racks and a shop-lite mounted on the wall to provide oblique lighting.
10 by 20 by 8ft tall,100 watts of cd music and 18,000 btu’s of a/c (fla.), last years Longboard mag featured Skip Frye and his shaping bay with 14ft ceilings!(inspiring article) I think about that everytime i cut out a longboard and have to take it outside for a visual.i also heard he was to be booted out of the place.Never met the guy but I hope he’s still there! anybody know?? cya
I am building my fourth shop. This one is 24’x 16’ with a curtain wall. So long story short, I have an 8’ x 16’ x 8’ shaping bay, and a 16’ x 16’ x 11’ glassing/airbrush area. I am hoping to be done by March/April I miss shaping, but this time the shop is right in my back yard. It’s going to be nice not having to drive.
