ive (and a couple of others over here in the uk) have placed orders with Manny @ Mandala surfboards for boards. ive called and emailed chasing the boards up (as they are well over due) but had nothing back.
As for your boards, you’re about ten boards down my list, so it’ll be another week
or so until I get them in the room to shape
I am due to email soon and get an update. I usually get replies within a few days. The good news is that the shapes look like they are always being refined so I look forward to the latest, baddest mandala quad in Pembrokeshire UK, hopefully in time for spring and summer waves.
yes, he’s been over on surfermag.com…I’d just hold tight, average wait for a custom fish is generally more than 3 months at this point, I had to wait maybe more like 5 last year, well worth it, the board is really great
so sit tight and soon come, he’s a straight up person, so I wouldn’t worry too much, you just have to be patient
We passed each other the other day in the Steamer Lane / Killer Cows area. I admired his board and he admired my board. He didn’t say anything about workload.
The new Surfer’s Journal has a mention in an article about a shop in Santa Cruz about a shaper who studied under Pavel for making quad-fin fish named Manny starting to work there, off the top of my head I’d say it’s Haut’s shop but maybe not. Is this the same Manny from Mandala? If so, that would explain his workload increase and no longer mentioning Mandala on his message.
sorry for not getting back to everyone sooner. i woke up yesterday with the chills but continued with my workday so i could get photos up on the website. by the time evening came around i had to pickup boards from the glassers as well, and i was cooked. i think it’s the flu that’s going around.
i guess that’s what i get for shaping all day in a cold room and then surfing stormy polluted waters. my ears are screwed boys…
anyway, enough bitching about being sick. enclosed is a photo of everyone’s board’s that are ready. if anyone need to talk to me or heckle me, i’ll be on my couch watching sky captain and world of tomorrow…
I know it’s hard to hear this but please just be patient and let Manuel do his thing, because the coke bottle green double bump quad Manuel delivered to me earlier this year was worth it.
His board are visual works of art especially the tint work and they work as claimed… Although I’m having trouble adjusting to them backside, frontside they do exactly what he promised speed and full rail carves…
Thanks Manuel…
I owe you big time with some Hawaiian goodies (you name it) in return for all your sweat equity, I just haven’t gotten around with everything I’m working on lam boards, fins etc…
I also recently saw the same comments in the archives about Toby so it just must go with the territory…
You won’t regret it either when you get yours…
and he packs them up damn good as well… Better than most pro shops…

Hi guys,
Ok, for the record: with Doug and Suzie’s gracious hospitality, I’m being allowed to share the extra shaping room with Marc Andreini until my new shaping room is finished. I’m only shaping my own boards there–doug shapes all his own, of course…

I’d always heard Haut’s shop was unheated, but never knew it could get the shapers sick 8)
There’s a few things which have run me down lately, but blaming a cold room isn’t at the top of the list. I think sharing a beer with a girl last weekend probably didi it!
