Okay, 6 hours on Swaylocks and my understanding of epoxy is sufficient enough to at least complete the process! God I love this place. My question is where do I go to get the EPS foam? I’m in the San Jose/Santa Cruz, CA area. I know Home Depot has some thinner sheets, but I’d like to get a solid block to work with. Also, I know this is going to be a common question, so if anyone knows EPS sale facilites in other areas do post them to make the benifit of this thread more than regional!
Bay Foam in Hayward has 2# up to 20’ long. You have to order a day or two in avdance so they can cut your block. 8’x 1’ x 4" pieces cost me about $15 each - so a blank is $30
Bob’s Foam Factory in Fremont stocks 1# in 4x8 sheets up to 6" thick. I think the 6" is about $85, but you can get 4 boards out of it.
I know you can go to the contractors desk at home depot and have them place a special order to insulfoam for a block of 2 lb. You have to buy a bigger block, but its about $ 25 a blank that way.
I also called the Insulfoam factory in Davis and they would sell a large block to me, but its a LARGE block and you have to pick it up. I think it was like 4x 4 x8’ and was about $ 400 about a year ago.
