Thanks for the help, that place is way cheap!!

and they’ve even got the “cheddar spreaders” that +1 recommends so highly…

…and CHEAP!!!

somebody recomended plastic long ago

in my life…

they said hey

you can break

out the stuff

residual in the bucket

and use it over and over

dicky collected gallon cans

I save brown cow containers.and sour cream containers too

Ive been cutting the tops off plastic maple syrup quarts

to use them as well…

paper tubs are deluxe

and their pricey too

wash em and dry them and clean w/ acetone…when I look at a shop floor completly littered with twoo dollar mixing buckets…I feel somewhat less than resourceful and very extravagant…

heck gallon milk plastic will do just fine if yer glassing a twelve footer

…ambrose…paper buckets are deluxe, kinda like whitewall tires…they roll about the same as…

wow I feel honored to have the aloof mad scientist type reply

your a nutjob… I ment that in a good way.

What’s wrong with waxed paper containers ?

I’ve been repairing boards for about four years and all I ever use is 3oz and 9oz paper cups that I buy at the grocery store. I’ve glassed 3 complete boards so far and the containers were either large Dixie cups or buckets purchaced from Home Depot in San Marcos, Ca. I looking to improve my process and cut cost so let’s here it if I’m doing something wrong…

When is it going to stop raining in So Cal ?

Thanks for the input

Ray

We use polyethylene plastic buckets from our fiberglass vendor. What’s nice about these is that you can bust out the resin after about 5 boards and the bucket is as good as new. We’ve saved so much since we switched over to plastic. The spreaders that Mr. Soulstice found at Merton’s site are the 5 inchers. FGH (Santa Cruz) has the killer 6 inch ones…

what does FGH stand for I can’t find any info.

thanks for the tip

darn…i was so excited…and now i’m disappointed.

FGH = Fiberglass Hawaii

Fiberglass Hawaii, Santa Cruz store; don’t know if they have a website. If you are in the San Diego area there is a place in Point Loma but their stock is spotty…

thank you, I can’t belive my powers of deduction suck so bad thanks again!!

Ooops. Looks like Mr. Soulstice beat me to it. If I just waited a second… …I’m such a jackass sometimes… Ha!

Mr Stingray,

Smart and Final has the cheapest waxed paper containers in bulk that I’ve seen. Great for small jobs. I think the issue with the waxed buckets is that the styrene in resin mixes readily with wax, hence surfacing agent. So the concern is the solvent in the resin will take some of the wax off the sides of the bucket making a possible unwanted mix.

Personally, I’ve never had any problems with the waxy buckets, not anything like the problems I’m having with the rain.

Today I was looking out the door from our factory and there was a guy going down the street…

IN A KAYAK!

No joke, I’m over this rain business! It’s pissing down gnarly as I type this; arrrrrrgh!

factory you say…

I am well currently between jobs as it where, do you need a shop monkey? I can sweep, clean toilets, you can throw thangs at me and I can handle being tazerd occasionally!!

We’ve got these stripper chicks from down the street who love to come by from time to time…

…how are you in a thong and heels?

(smuggled shot from one of the girls’ visits…) They do great work.
