Listen up people,

April is a transition month anywhere in the world? Winter to Spring, Summer to Fall, etc. You’ll get screwed anywhere you go, or you’ll score waves that will be virtually empty.

Here’s a geography lesson for ya! Hawaii, particularly Oahu is a big rock in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. It picks up every swell generated anywhere on that big Pacific Ocean. Your right, you might have to find a ride to get to waves, but there are always waves. And the North Shore is the best place in the world to find waves.

I’ve only been skunked there onces, and it was over Easter.

Hawaii’s North Shore is the only place I get in a plane to travel surf. Why go any where else?

please take this as informative …HAWAII does not pick up every swell generated in the big ol pacafic ocean…we do get swells that miss our islands completley because of there direction, and power…some swells fizzle …some the direction is off…ALOHA

Enough already, you Island guys and the reality of what most people surf and what “no waves” means.

Here’s some more info. San Diego has had about 5-8 days maybe of surf this Winter. I mean days when it has been head high or a little better. we have had no…I repeat no days bigger than 1.5 overhead. that means no 2x, or 3x surf…and those 1.5 days are probably 3 or less

I was on Oahu last week and in the locals eyes it was shitty, Jockos on Wed pm was windy and a solid Hawaiian 6ft +, so what’s that mean something like 8-10ft faces, Thursday early am was 6ft and dropping to 4-5 ft by 9 am so waves were 6-8ft faces… I was as happy as a faggot in a cucumber patch…best waves I have seen since early November. Not many locals out surfing? compared to what we get in San Diego it was great. Good waves are in the eyes of the beholder.

You guys don’t realize how good you have it?

I´m going to say one place, if there´s money for it:

**HINAKO!!!**

is that in SUMATRA??? "sumatra surfaiirs’’ is a web site that has good deals on boat trips/guide … they got a trip in early april, all others are booked…yeah i mean as a couple people have said…BOAT TRIP!!!

Yep, second that. Im no triathlete but on boat trips I still average eight hours a day in the water. On land that usually doesn’t happen. You have to decide where to surf, get there, eat lunch, tenderfoot back out across a quart mile dry reef,…blah blah. Expensive but the bang for your buck on boats is worth it. Yeah I give my left something or other to be in the Hinakos right now.

Only negative of boats is when you’re on the downside of democracy. We pulled away from perfect Asu one time when it was almost 2x overhead, glassy, tubing, and with only 2 land campers out because the 7 other regular footers wanted to go look for a right. Ended up at huge bumpy bawa. Stupid fucks.

for California during springtime, So. California has always been a respite from the harsh winds

usually providing good surf in the protection of the So California Bight.

However, I’ve always wondered what someone would consider amongst the best springtime

windswell spots in So. Cal?

Whats the overall best windswell spot in Southern California, most reliable ?
