He posts once in awhile at Compsand.com. They seem more oriented toward board building over there. Ben has been doing the compsand thing for some time and that is their main focus.

Work sucks for me right now - working harder than ever & making less $. Just like everyone else. Not too much time to post or make boards.
And its been storming up here for a month, and now that the rain’s done we’re heading into the season of onshores… there’s a reason I’ve played & coached lacrosse for more than 25 years: onshore winds in the spring. Matches up perfectly with the natural break we get, otherwise I’d just be happily surfing all year…
Have to admit, the static/signal ratio in here is a little hard to filter sometimes, and the new interface is kind of akward too. Used to be site #1 or 2 for me when I’d cleared emails and had a minute to screw around on teh interwebs, now its down around 4 or 5, and there aren’t always enough hours in the day to get that far.
If all you guys were still leading the charge to put up new work - especially Dan & Carl, who’ve been even more MIA than me at times - I’d probably join in.
As for compsand… have only even opened it once in 09, I think. Between Roy, Paul, and Huie, it became a disaster of personalities. Once the dust settles over there, I’ll pop in again. For now its the Douggie show and he can have it.

There’s so much truth in what you just wrote. I feel like we were most active during the golden age of swaylocks. While researching Bert’s boards I ended spending a lot of time in the archives. There were great personalities participating for the right reasons. Many of them were still active during my first year, and offered me huge amounts of help. They didn’t seem to hide behind statements like “This is only the web - its not real”. It was also a time of huge innovation, and progressive design ideas. Every day there was something new. Now when I find myself wanting to join into some thread, but as soon as it goes past 10 posts somebody has to start acting like an a$$. This means I only post when I need some help, and its still the same guys helping me out as when I started.
On the plus side - I should have a couple interesting boards for the “Longboard Weekend”
Having been here for quite some time, I feel like a lot of posters are my friends. There are quite a few that I actually meet in person and become “real” friends but it doesn’t change that feeling of kinship with the “imaginary” ones (as John’s girlfriend calls us). You and Carl are people that I will click on even if I don’t give a rat’s ass about the topic. Glad to know you’re still here!
As for the static/signal thing (love that analogy); it all runs in cycles…this too shall pass.
If I ever really meet you Ben, and you don’t look like Albert Einstein, I’ll be devastated…
Benny is a standup guy for sure and more than once has been the voice of reason and positivity on otherwise trainwrecked threads.
i was driving through Oakland the other day and saw some kids having Lacrosse practice so i pulled in hoping to see Benny. no luck,

What happened to the Mullet?
I think sandwich board building has been a bit dead since the (fun) how to compsand -photo threads were
discouraged. Too much hush hush and taking things seriously, we are just making toys and if it was not such a pain in the arse every body would already be making composite boards.
Plus everything is in the archives at Sways already if you want to dig.
Stop the new flow of info and things dry up.
