which two boards to take?

Take the yellow one and the one to the right of it. They should both cove a good range of wave types and sizes

one on the right if it’s EPS

and the red orange minigun 4th from the left

if the one on the far right paddles real well you should be able to handle just about anything

But I also know guys who could ride that first board on the left in just about anything as well

Off course you could just sell all those boards except your singing Makore Fish and get a Griff 5-fin for everything else.

with 3 to 4 more times the number of boards you’re showing I know the delimma.

I also end up taking 3-4 boards or more with me for every session

not knowing what club to pull out untill I see the lay of the grass on the green

sometimes all of them end up to be the wrong boards for the conditions.

that always sucks

Just got off the phone with another guy we’re using to help organize this trip, and he echoed the other in saying that I simply won’t see a wave bigger than 8’ on this trip, and that 4-6’ is more the norm. Both of the guys I talked to said that they had 6’3"/6’4" for daily use, and 6’8" for the macking days.

Funny, there are a lot of folks who think I should bring my #0001 with the orange swirl as my bigger-wave board. Interesting. I might, but that thing dings when I even look at it funny. That’s why I’m limiting my choices to my compsands, or at least epoxy.

This still brings me back to my dilemma, though… Sorry to beat a dead horse on this one.

I rode the rotating fins thruster today, and it still left me undecided. It is so much more sensitive to foot placement than the fish. It is sooo fun when I hit the sweet spots, but not so much when I don’t. I was definitely going harder, more vert (vert might be pushing it, lets say further from horizontal) and throwing more spray when I hit it, but winding up in the soup when I didn’t. Took a few waves to figure out my weight again after riding the fish, yet another argument for leaving the fish at home since the bonzer has the same basic template as the thruster.

I guess I owe it to myself to master driving the Porsche, instead of just comfortably cruising in the Caddy all the time. But the caddy rides soooo nice…

The thruster does have a very flat rocker, so it will be fine in small stuff. In fact, it might be too flat for anything with any real size and power.

Talking myself into the bonzer and the thruster… At least I have a few more weeks to make up my mind.

go with 2 and 3 from the far right then

that should be good enough if you’re talking face heights.

a wave whose crest is just a little over head high 6-8’ is playtime…

I’d use something that scoots and fit’s in tight places real well to take advantage of the short faces.

the orange boards has better entry and release lines which is why I think alot of people associate it with juice.

the bonzer has more of an old parish 70’s feel so I see down the line especially with that fin setup

the “in betweener” is that MR copy (2nd from the right). If you didn’t you should of made it a quad to squeeze out more versatility.

I still say you take the mark richards style twinnie. or your fish rather than the thruster you havent dialled in yet. I know the feeling of having a sick board that you can do awesome turns on but just cant get a constant consistency in it and dont have the familiar feeling.
