I been making some boards with a foam that stays white. However I don’t think the people on Swaylocks will like it because it doesn’t turn yellow after a few sessions like most foams on the market today. Besides it has a really good feel. No more name dropping because we are suppose to be netural here with no bias. So far the feed back has been the best I’ve received ever concerning foam.
Like I said it may be a mute point for most because this may not be important for most board builders on this site. White boards are still desired by most surfers even if you disagree.
I been low key lately however I was pleased to finally get some really good foam. The last time I posted about all the bad foam out there I received a lot of bad press.
However I’m now getting postive feed back on some foam that is really working well. I’m stoked because I have a guy that rips and wins contest along with intensive training who told me today no more experiements we have found the foam that works. This is in reference to High Performance surfing so please don’t beat me up over this. In regards to light, white and lively this is the foam I have been needing for some time now. One other Pro told me the same thing over the week-end so I’m starting to make some head way. I know guy’s that say this is or that is the best foam. Well normally it’s because they get a bro deal or are not concern with the finish board being white and light. I’ll pay the $5.00 more for quality. The stringer may play an important part as well. The Basswood Ply from Applecore has good flex. However you need to keep your hand planes sharp when cleaning up your finish, No big deal just keep a Japaneese Water Stone handy in your bay and some spare blades. Why shape a board with a bad blank? Such a waste of time and materials. When the rocker is right and the foam is good with the right wood, shaping becomes fun again. Hacking sucks I’m sorry. 2009 let’s do it right or just hang it up and do something else. No more Hacking!
