I have a 10,0 noserider. Best longboard I ever owned. It’s truly magical. It was made by Craig Hollingsworth of Leucadia. He shapes Surf Diva, Lightning Bolts, the old Dart Boards, and many more. I have never paddled a board that got in so early, and it isn’t that big or thick. Just a regular 10,0 by 22.5 by 3 inches thick. Anyway, a year ago at Cardiff Reef I surfed well-overhead surf without a leash and really had to surf conservatively. Long story-short: I ate it and held on to the board, although I should have let it go (but the surf was breaking on the rocks). Well, instead of getting a rail ding from the rocks (easy to fix), I have stress fractures running two thirds of the board from the nose on back, on the bottom of the board. There are a lot of cracks, and they reach from rail to rail (the board must have really twisted and turned like Chubby Checker). If I had to count the number of stress fractures, they would easily number more than fifty, and they are all across the board, not lengthwise. Some blend into each other, some are parallel to each other. Man, there could easily be a hundred of them. I rode the board at least twenty times since then, maybe as many as fifty times, including loaning it out to friends. Since I can’t see any water dammage, I guess I can assume it hasn’t penetrated into the lam layer. But I know not to assume. Bottom line, can you recommend someone in North County who can fix it? Plus, will it affect the “magic” nature of the board? I really don’t want a lot of weight added to it. I would rather ride it till it dies the way it is than to have the board ride entirely differently. I don’t care how it looks. Plus, any idea what that might cost? Again, the dammage runs two thirds the length of the board, on the bottom (but the fractures run perpendicular to the stringer, not parallel). I was thinking of bringing it to the Ding King (Buttons), right next door to Jim Phillips. Over the phone he told me it would be about thirty to forty bucks. I don’t think he understood how many fractures there were or how much area it covered. Any suggestions? Thank you guys.
