Im in portland.Anyone shape a good singlefin around here?
I shape a great single fin for Portland surfers.
It has a special feature that kills all digital camera’s and cell phones.
It only floats at Pacific City/Cape Kiwanda though some surfers have used it at Short Sands.
When the board travels south of Lincoln City, it self destructs.
Let me know how long you want it.
Go talk to Mark and Cannon Beach surf. He has / had some amazing single fins. IMHO the
shapers up here lack in the fish / single fin catagory.

This is Swaylocks… YOU shape a good singlefin in the NW!
BELLEVUE RICKY YOUNG SURFBOARDS 206 453 2346 WASHINGTON, I am not to sure if Ricky still has his shop in WA. Also seeing Mark at Cannon Beach Surf is a great idea. Mark is a great guy and a personnal friend of mine. He got a killer selection of great longboards. I meet him at a longboard meet at West Port back in 1993. In fact it was a Ricky Young longboard meet.

Classic! Best answer to a question I’ve seen yet!
Ekim - there’s plenty of information on Sway’s to get you well on your way to being covered in dust and dripping resin all over your shop floor (ie making fins). Go for it! You’ll be glad you did, even if you decide like most people that you’ll never do it again.
Ekim, what exactly are you looking for? Singlefins run the full gamut of surf styles, from 10 ft logs with D fins to Brewer guns, to eggs and stubbies. So, what do you want?
Building your own would definately be a learning experience, and although it might not get you what you want, with the right atittude it could be big fun.
But to answer your question, Gary Swanson (Hammersurf) or Cort Gion (in Florence, I think) would be two obviously qualified individuals.

Got one. Thanks for all the help though.
I am near Seattle and I just picked up a Gary Swanson longboard (9' 3") in trade for some work I did, pretty nice looking board. I have wanted a longboard for awhile, and from what I know, this guy is a pretty good local shaper located down along the Columbia River someplace. Seems like a good chance to try shaping your own though.
“TaylorO” Hahahaha!!!
I haven’t made one in over 20 years… But thanks for thinking of me Ray.
I’d love to share “knowledge” any time.
