Whoa, is it August already? Stinking hot and perfect for glassing? Wanna make dust and drink beer? Hot dogs and resin smell appeal to you?

Well GET ON DOWN, put it on yer calendar, AUGUST 19th. The usual spot, you know where, you know when (mid morning to whenever), bring your projects, yer respirator, your half built HWB, youse hot wire cutters, foam blocks, “last Clark”, bottle of RR, home made pigments, whatever.

We’re gonna shape or glass or grind or talk story, per usual. Maybe you can watch Resinhead do his thing, like swirlies?

If ya can’t make it, well see you next time.

RSVP if you’re coming. bring stuff to eat/bbq if you wish. Show up early and surf.

UPDATE: If anybody is coming down from the Ventura area for the Aug. 19th shindig, pierpointscott has offered a Walker blank for us to have as a door prize… quite the sweet offer!! (THANKS SCOTT!) So you Ventura guys, think about it… directions to his shop are here:

hopefully lots of that , so we will have lots of photos here of boards being made , and surfed , in the near future ! [hint hint]. You guys should VIDEO these shaping and glassing days , they could be great teaching tools for everyone here . I’d much rather SEE stuff being made and surfed than reading pages and pages and pages full of mumbo jumbo and pseudo scientific theory.

the thought of eating hotdogs, sinking the odd brew, and breathing resin just warms my mind.

I agree it would be a great educational tool so document it please.

I’ll be coming down to SD on the 16th-17th. I don’t know if I will be able to make the event, but, I could drop-off the blank at Keith’s house. We had a blast last time. Hope I can make it again. -matt

Yes. I should be there. If someone were up for it, I would like to see a fin box installation demo. I may have a board (eps…uh oh) or two at that stage in devolpment. Thanks again keith

Count me in !

I have a short board that needs to be painted. I can bring all my air brush stuff and do a demo. Any one need to get their board sprayed ? ( I don’t do red!) I can bring some scrap foam for test spraying.

Keith, do you have an air compressor ?

Well, we’ve had a few days we tried to organise here in perth … You know how it goes …invite ten , get one show up ! [Yay for the aussies , your enthusiasm is underwhelming …oi oi oi …]

One memorable night which DID happen , however, was a talking / question night with ‘Sabs’ , where hicksy , lavz, and I saw his composite boards.

Another one was when Lavz video’d ‘Hicksy’ glassing with epoxy , the “hixell” board. (Of course , these are both threads posted somewhere here , in amongst the thousands at sways …)

Hicksy often has barbies [bbq’s] at night , and often has a beer in his hand , or a wine , or …

 I guess <span style="font-style:italic"><span style="font-weight:bold">you</span></span> guys , in Newie and the central coast [Gosford], should get together more regularly .... there's DEFINATELY enough of you for <span style="font-style:italic">you</span> to do something !

… Maybe for a good weekend get-together , camp out somewhere , surf , eat , photograph , video , swap boards…[unless you want to fly all the way here , for some unknown reason ??]

Well, PARTICULARLY when the Auslocks board arrives there , you could all have a group surf day . (Please video it , if it ever happens , Oldy !!)

there’s some ideas so you eastozzies [‘e’ozzies’] can ‘do everything’ ! good on ya , if you do !

[the answer to Hicksy’s signature , by the way = “no , we don’t !” , thankfully . [And , also, …“no , we CAN’T” ! heehee … but true , also.]

WILL a dvd ever be available of these get-togethers ?

With the number [of ‘get-togethers’] you have now had , and the different things done each time , you could have a GREAT teaching tool for the rest of us !

…I particularly would have LOVED to have seen fotage of the whole “how-to” process of that mutant board you made last time , as well as footage of it being surfed by every guy [and girl?] present there , THIS time ! I still think that should be this year , or next year’s “amlocks” / ‘calilocks’ travel board !]

…food for thought , hopefully ? …

ARGH!..wish i was still going to be in town, but i’m heading back east on wednesday. next time i’m out this way, we’ll have to coordinate a shape/glass sesh.

Alright! I’m planing to have my pine blank glued up by then, so maybe I’ll bring that and start plowing it.

just wondering …

has anyone ever laid up , cut out and foiled a fin panel at one of these days ? [I realise they are supposed to be “shaping days” , but I just had the thought …fins are a process you could have done and tested in the same day , using polyester resin , obviously]

Anyone keen ? I can’t …quite…make …it…there …
