thanks dude! would the fins be 3 1/2 and 11 1/2" up from the tail tips , and angled in towards the nose ?[that’s language i understand] . And are you going to go with the same tail and shape? because if so , copy the Webber, if you like the outline . that will give you the wide point placement . where in sydney are you , i know a guy who lives there .
those numbers sound ok to me. widepoint slightly forward, or at center would change the outline greatly, depending on if you want to catch or ride your waves easier.
my thruster now is 6’5" x 19.5, with WP behind center, and it works well once i’m up and riding, but i keep thinking if it was centered it would be better for catching waves, while still riding well.
I am guessing in your language the side fins start 15inches from the tail, and 4 inches back, pointing to the nose, I hope this clear, I am not up with the correct lingo.
The board I detailed is an al merrick fish it has a wing at 8.5 inches back from the tail .In fact I took template off the back. and the wide point appeared to be about 5 inches back from the mid point. I was a bit confused seemed a bit far. Does this sound right?
I live in maroubra beach, sydneys eastern suburbs beaches, it gets busy, but you still get those times when the crowds miss it.
Simon is the man, when Im over that way I swear Im going to give a case of beer, better than nothing!
The wide point of the Webber looks like 3 1/2 ~ 4 inches back from centre and the tail looks like 15 3/4 wide, The Merrick tail is probably wider becuase of the wings. If you’re going with the Merrick outline don’t forget the wings, they reduce tail area around the back fin for a little more hold. With a tail that wide the Merrick probably doesn’t have much curve in the outline between the feet so it’d be harder to pick the widepoint so it is possible your measurement is out a bit. Widepoint foreward with flat nose rocker makes it hard to pull up and wack the lip on small waves so wide point back is better. (unless the board is realy short <5’10")
