winter signs

today’s beach walk reveals the recent arrival of our annual neighbors, the golden plover!

To some in the know this is the first sign of the change of seasons!

see kolea watch…

…ambrose…

thes birds travel from the artic circle to hawaii in august and return in april,or may… en masse long nonstop flight…!!!

oh yeah the mangos are maxig

eight wind falls today

and the rest wont last on th tree more than a week…

then summer …well whats summer with out a mango in the morning, noon and night?

Howzit Ambrose, Have you seen or heard from Austin and his Dad, they have been on Kauai since the 2nd and thought we would have heard from them by now. Also another Sway brother is here and I think he’s coming by today. Aloha,Kokua

Ah. Signs of change. I can’t wait for those crispy cool mornings, light offshore breezes, and the first west swells of Fall. Yeah! A few more weeks and it should start. I think we get the snowy plover nesting in our sand dunes. Mike

The Golden Plover has returned to my yard also. This is the same one every year to its same territory. Also the Golden Plover and its long flight totally refutes eveolutionary theory regarding migration. Also its hatchlings are still back on the alutian islands getting strong for the next 3-4 weeks before they too make the 80 hours continuous flight for the first time with no help from ma and pa.

So if the seasons are starting to change on your side of the world. One would assume things are starting to change on this side.

We in Eastern Australia have just experienced a once in 20 year weather event. A intense low pressure system bought antarctic winds and snow to the Sth Eastern corner of Aus. It was snowing at sea level in Tasmania and Melbourne. And down to 600 mts further north.

This may be the norm in a Northern winter in the USA but in Aus it is a novelty. We only get snow in the Snowy Mountains in winter. platty.
