At one of the surf expo’s in Fla., I was introduced to a young woman by Johnny Lucas, her name was Erica Eggert. John explained that she was developing a following of other women who like to ride her shapes.

I took Erica in as a possible apprentice, she traveled to Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, so she had what it took. The other male shapers of the area that she had talked to told her she wouldn’t like shaping and that it was too dirty of a job for a girl.

I told Erica to forget any information about shaping that any others had showed her and started to teach her only good habits. She had a day job as a bartender on Johns Island near Vero Beach. One afternoon, on the way to work, a drunk driver turned in front of her at 60MPH and killed her instantly in a head on collision.

Don’t drink and drive !

Sylvia Sanders shapes in south Fl…INFACT SHE BUILDS THE WHOLE BOARD !!!paint, glass ,the works !!!

Haven’t seen a post from her, here in awhile.

While she was out here in Cali she and her hubby paid me a visit, sweet gal,I hope all is going great for her.

and if you’re reading this Sylvia…“HI”

Simon, Leslie on this BB is a glasser, not a shaper, but she’s outstanding. I’ve never met her, but have seen her work here & in person. She used to glass for either Tyler or Gene Cooper, I’ve heard it both ways. Her contact info is in her profile…

She did this deck inlay on a Tyler I used to have. It was done to fix a big delam (before I owned it) but the inlay was flawless…

I have been shaping a woman for 38 years.

I consider her my greatest on going project.

some times she seems to take on unpredictable

changes in rails ,nose tail and thickness, but generally

a pleasant shape. the color over the last few years

has slightly changed every month or so

but other than that I consider myself

in a word , a woman shaper.

…ambrose…

I wouldnt be suprised

if she thought herself a

man shaper.

a mutually delusionally

admirational society.
