Wondering if there's one in Cali? None that I know of... And if not, why the heck not ? Not Sacred Craft, Not LBCC, A Wooden Board Gathering. Interested?
Sure compsand, timberflex, whatever; as long as there's more wood showin' then foam ;-)
Sorry Keith but 4th of July is the one day I would NOT pick. Beaches and parks are packed to capacity and that's THE day for the once a year wonders in the water.
I'd like to shoot for Mid September, AFTER Labor Day. That gives everyone plenty of time to prepare and the summer crowds will be mostly gone.
Thinking to hold it at Doheny.
Somewhat centrally located, plenty of parking and board friendly lawns.

Hello Uncle ,
We have a gathering every every year up in Big Sur California. You are invited. Sept 24,25,26, Come for the day or stay all weekend.
Set a date....don't conflict with one of the other events.....people will come....You have a good idea. I saw a thread from Paul Jensen talking about wood board building classes in California. Maybe you could have a beach party with Paul when he's in town......
One year they did a Fish Fry / AB3 at Cardiff Reef at the end of March....No permits...No ads ,no sponsers... just Surfermag Blog and Sway's hype....Amazing when test boards came from Hawaii , east Coaters helped plan the event , and people from all over California showed up.
I was at that Currumbin Alley Wood Board Day and it was off the charts amazing…Some verrrry clever folks those Australians…
I will be coming down the California coast June and July…Starting with a class in Half Moon Bay June 23-27 and finishing with another workshop in San Diego July 14- 18…
It would be super cool and groovy to connect at the beach with other splinter heads…
Let’s do this…like the warm water, wood board friendly beach idea, post labor day less crowds…all good…and if its down south…we might be Greg & Jed , maybe even Phil to come by…we could have various “families” from each shaper… I have an epic Phil and love riding it up at inside pleasure point…would be great to bring it south again…whats wrong with San-O?
