[img_assist|nid=1068084|title=wooden tail block with resin|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=640|height=383]This is my first attempt at a wooden tail block with resin. Turned out good other than some of the resin in the corners of the squares - looks like it maybe soaked into the wood? I glued everything up, taped the two halves to glass, and filled the holes with resin. I used gloss tinted resin and mixed it pretty slow - took about an hour to gel. Looked great as it started to gel, then this morning when it was completely cured, there was resin missing in the corners. Thought I might need to brush some resin on the inner surfaces of the blocks before pouring the resin in? Anyone have experience doing this?
Can't you just wipe on a fill coat with a squeegee, or use a brush and then sand flush? The tail block looks good. The wooden squares would look nice if rotated 45 deg. so they are diamond shape too.
