Work.....

I’m at hour number 13 and counting for the day and pretty miserable.

Hoping to leave before it gets to 20 and then do it all over again tomorrow.

At first I shot this to gain some interest and sell more boards.

But now it’s actually helping me keep my sanity.

Enjoy…

Awesome footage Rick, gunna do it for the glassing too??

Thanks.

Yeah I plan on doing start to finish.

More misery today…may not even go home tonight. Fun.

Considering entering the forrest and never returning.

How many miles?

Boardbumps

Well, I’d have to actually drive out of the city first and many hours to get to a forrest first.

But once there…far far into the forrest.

With ocean on one side.

Hey Rick,

Surf’s up - get out there and forget about that nasty 4 letter word w.o.r.k.

Rejuvinate yourself!

Hey Brian,

Thankfully, this weekend I’m going to Montauk. Hope the winds cooperate at least a little.

Work this week just REALLY sucks. 21 hours yesterday. Sleep 3 hours and back at it.

Seriously considering a new line of work.

Later

Rick

I too like the time lapse. Are you in corporate work, cause if you are I understand your misery. Sitting behind a desk in an office with no windows drafting briefs and doing due dilligence kills the soul. But when you actually get into the water, it is only that much better.

Thanks.

I do this - rickmalwitz.com

It’s not really corporate but def behind a computer all day everyday.

Hope we get some swell this weekend.

This might interest you (or terrify you); forgive the fox news link, I’m too lazy to google for something else:

Toyota Engineer Designing Camry Hybrid Works Self to Death

Very reassuring. Ha!

I hope you’re not busting your ass so your client can sit on your creation for a few months…that was always the case for me in my past professional life.

Client: Hurry up / stop! We have a change!

Me: OK

Client: Take this out, add this and this…

Me: That’s no where near your original vision that I’ve been working diligently on.

Client: Yeah well we need it tomorrow

Me: OK

Me: Here it is, hope you like it.

Client: [after silence for a week] We want to change this…

Every time guaranteed. Larger sized companies have too many people with too many ego driven opinions who feel the need to make a project their own without a drop of experience in acutally making a project work. (sorry, flashback)

Hope this isn’t the case for you.

Now I’m stressed just thinking about it…I’m goin surfin…

Unfortunately that’s exactly what I go through everyday.

Are you doing Greenlight fulltime now?

Hey Rick,

Been doing Greenlight 10-12 hours a day for the past 2 years…It’s more than a full time gig.

I “work” a lot more now but also get to surf a lot more too

Best thing is I like my life a whole lot more now!

Sounds pretty good.

What were you doing before?

Mechanical Engineering/Product Development Consultant. Did a lot of pharmacuetical industry work and some stuff for the Navy as well as helping independent inventors. Sometimes fun when they let me run with my ideas but you know they never really accept creative ideas outside their walls. The good old NIH complex. “Not Invented Here” ha!

I wish I could make a living off of surfing…lol…for now I got to settle with driving this thing around for 12 hours a day…

thinking im gunna have to get a real job now too. been putting in 14 hour days laminating at the local glass shop and still not makin enough to pay rent. rising supply costs seem like they are slowing business, not to mention gas prices eating away at my bank account. gunna have to do something to supplement that income.

might actually have to use that degree i worked so hard for; economics… the thought of a suit and tie makes me want to run into the forest as well

I am scared of that word, and I graduate in six months, the clock is ticking. ugh.
