Looks like these guys have been spending too much time in the the Australian outback.
They look like Kangaroos walking on water… Pretty bloody freaky!
I wonder if it would work on unbroken swell? Looks fun but the movement looks kind of gay.
send em out at Jaws… They’d want have some spring in there step that day.
hit the reef, and your dead in the water. Paul, my kit showed up today! I’ll collect it from shipping in the morning.
Paul, You have some beautiful stuff/boards on your site… Great work.
I do want one of those!!!!!haha!
It’s a little worst than that. If you get tired, quit jumping up and down, and glide down to a stop in water more than a couple of feet deep there’s no way to get started again (to start going you need to be able to push off from a dock, boat, PWC, shallow water, etc.).
In spite of that, I think that it’s a pretty clever invention. It was originally marketed as the Trampofoil. As I understand it, the patent rights were bought by Inventist, some improvements made to the design, and the name changed to AquaSkipper.
I’ve seen a short video of it being ridden on (very) small unbroken waves. But I would expect that because of the long span of the main foil (necessary to get the required efficiency in generating lift) it would have some problems (other than going approximately straight off) in somewhat larger, steeper larger waves (e.g. head high)–in part because of the directional changes in the flow over the length of the foil.
reminds me of this http://www.southparkstudios.com/clips/153051
