Thanks in advance for any advice I can get … I would like to glue 2 pieces of the blue Dow XPS foam together to make blank . Their 2 inches thick each … What is a good glue to use for that ? I have some XPS pieces to try different glues no. I am going to hot wire the blank out of it . Does that make a difference in what I use? dont think I want something too hard as it may break the wire. I have built a few Homes out of styrofoam blocks so I have "some " hot wire experience . Styrofoam homes are rated at R-50 insulation valueby the way . Mahalo to all .
I would use polyurethane glue. The hotwire should go through it okay, just make sure you have a fan to blow the toxic fumes away from you. You could use an epoxy glue, but I’m not sure how well the hotwire would go through it.
A very important question is, which dow XPS did you buy? If it is an insulation foam, it will gas. Use the surfboard foam, it doesn’t gas(at least not yet)…
