XPS just got heavier

I’ve been using the blue xps foam made by dow chemicals and it usually ranged from 28 to 32 kg per cubic metre.

I know on the forums here a lot of people don’t like it but with a 2mm layer of divinycell vacuum baged on I’ve had great success with this stuff, anyway

I recently bought a block and when I got it home it looked denser and felt a lot heavier So I measured and weighed the block did some calculations and worked out it was a lot heavier than 28kg as stated by the Australian importers web page. This foam worked out at 38kg which adds a lot of weight to the boards. I contacted the importer who said

They are now made using a new environmentally friendly blowing agent which causes the foam to be heavier and he was very sorry for any inconvenience.

Doesn’t help me much. I know other companies make xps foam a yellow one would anyone know who else makes xps or another supplier in Australia???

Hi Dee rather than send you a private email I’d like to share the info you requested on how I vac bag with other forum users as well. The boards come out lighter and stronger eg 9’6" = 6kg , the xps is water resistant

see attach of quick diagram I have drawn to show the stages. I’v lost all my favourites due to reformatting this pc but anthonies board building links has good links for vac bagging and so do these forums.
