With so much emphasis on recycling, our local rubbish dumps now have “recycling centres”. They basically grab anything half decent before it gets buried in landfill, and you can get it cheap. I see a few boards now and then, but so far all too small. A few months ago i saw a single fin scooped out spoon for 5 bucks. I didn’t have any cash on me and i left. I thought about it for a few days and thought " I really should go and get that". I did go back, but it was gone, probably on ebay for 100 bucks, D’OH!!!. I’ve also seen a few nice old singles, but agian, too small for me.

I freekin’ hate you for that. The classic logs are cool and all, but for some reason I just really really covet the uber-gadgetness of the skil 100s. That’s like the ultimate find for me, I’ve even shown my wife photos and told her to keep her eyes open for one.
Hell, I’ve only held one in my hands one time.
9’6" Morey Pope John Peck Penetrator.$ 20 bucks.Lady told me to get that thing outta my yard!
Few years ago in North Hollywood…okay, late 1970’s…
10’2 Hansen “Pintail Model”, triple stringer with a very pointy tail, waveset fin.
Dead Mint.
$10.00
Surfed it into the ground and it now lives in my front yard with flowers growing out of the deck.
Herb,
Eddie Bauer is what we called all the city kids playing weekender as a kid growing up (go by a fly-fishing spot and see “Eddie” in all his new gear). Looks like you’ve scored a time or too.
I’ll trade you a Bosch and a Ten dollar bill for that “spare” Skil. hahaha.
Ya I’m a junker…
I’ve gotten many great deals over the past 30+ years.
Just last weekend … A Cannon AE-1 35mm camera for 5 bills,and a dremel hook-up with accessories(the dental hose looking thing-a-ma-bob)2 dollars.
Even bought a old leather jacket …some 10 years ago and found a South African Gold Coin in one of the hideaway pockets the jacket featured.
What’s that old saying…Right tool for the right job…naw…ah,here we go…
…Right place at the right time…
