yellow damaged foam

Any board repair experts here willing to help?

I searched the archives some, but didn’t see anything.

I smashed the nose of my longboard (Neilson triple stringer, PUPE (Clark foam) on the rocks last fall, and it took on some water.

Apparently, I didn’t get it dry enough before fixing it, because now I have the creeping yellow crud under the glass. I’m pretty sure its sealed up, but it still seems to be getting worse.

Is there any option at this point, or do I just have to deal with a yellow stain on an otherwise beautiful board?

Not much you can do about the yellowing. I would be more concerned about water still in the repair. I’ve done restorations that haven’t been in the water for years that have wet foam under some repairs. If the repair area seems soft, grind it out, dry it and redo it.

Howzit Larry, The trick to not getting the yellow foam is to flush the ding with fresh water a few times and then let it dry. It’s the salt crystalls left after drying (with no frsh water flush ) that causes the yellow.Aloha,Kokua

…I add that after you flush with water and let it dry, put alcohol in the ding and it will evaporate almost all the humidity…

Never thought of that. What a great, simple idea. Durrr.
