Yet another I'm building my first board and need help!

Hi guys I have been reading post here for awhile and finally decided to go for it! I have been in contact with Girvin who post pretty regularly on the site since he lives in the same area as me and has given me a great bunch of stuff to work with. I don't want to keep bugging him with every question I so Girvin if your reading this THANK YOU so much for all your help.

First off a little bit about myself I'm about 5'7 and 145-150 pounds and basically surf knee high to head high waves in the summer. I'm up in BC Canada so I only really get to surf in the summer when I'm home from school. I have been surfing mainly a 6'2 Kane Garden quad fish for the last few years and love it but it is defiantly way too big for me and would like to make something smaller. I bought a kit from Greenlight this month thanks to their awesome sale they had on but I haven't quite figured out all the dimensions yet.

With help from Girvin, I think I want to make something around 5'10 19x 2 1/4 I don't think I want a true short board since the conditions in the summer here are not normally that great. I was thinking of more eggish but still with a slight point to the nose but put a bit more foam upfront.

The main problem I'm having is deciding on the rocker. should I go with a low rocker like 1'' tail rocker and 3'' nose rocker or should I put a bit more on it.

Also what sort of bottom should I put on it I was just thinking of a light V

Thanks for all the help and I'm really stoked about this and will posting pictures of my progress

stick with girvin

too many cooks spoil the soup

you will get sooooo muuuuch good info here you will get confused

pointy egg sounds good to me

I just don’t want to bug him too much

Krep, I traditionally prefer flatter rocker, but with such a sort length a “bit” more in the tail wouldn’t hurt. It might come in handy in trying to beat out sections.
