I am trying to find out what zoning laws apply to surfboard manufacturing. What industrial zone would it be in? Also any hints and tips for setting up a new building would be appreciated(like required amount of fire extinguishers or other oddball stuff). Thanks for the help.
Here in nc we are in a industral park And the only things that the fire marshell calls for is a fire box to store drums of resin, harder vent fans in sanding rooms that pull air outside and fire extingishers (2) but thays all i can think of. Are you looking to expand? how many boards are you building a month? Here are some pic of our factory
Pretty much common sense stuff. Talk with the Fire Marshall and the city for all the city codes. Also may want to talk with the AQMD (Air Quality Management District) depending on what your plans are of either poly or epoxy. They will ask about anything that is going to be airborne such as sanding and VOC’s (Volatile Organic Compounds)
If you are starting a business, the city usually requires business license and other avenues for generating revenue for the city.
