10'8" Noserider with a little help from the family

I think you found the answer to surftech. Cheap american family labor still produces a high quality finished board.

Just playing. yea MKEP is not good in your eyes. and what are the dims of that fin? it looks huges, just wait until you run over a shortboard with it. Curious how much does it weigh?

How’s that board ride with that fin? I had a 9’6" that had a fin like that and it felt weighed down in the tail. Like a lot of drag. Notice anything like that?

Hicksy: Thanks for the nice comments. Good to hear your family is involved with your love for surfboard construction. Love your posts. I dont have any rocker shots as of now but will try to get a few soon. The eyes protection advice is taken to heart…no doubt!!!

Samsurf: Time to break out that new 4/3 and get out surfing with us. Where you at??? Thanks Steve.

reverb: The family stoke is the reason in here for sure. I took the the gloss coat to 400 grit with the sander. Then worked up 600, 800, 1000, 1200 grit wet sanding by hand,(only took a couple hours=few beers)which mad the polishing alot easier.

Oldy:Im wondering if you and your father still surf and build boards together ? Thats really cool! Ill try to get some action stuff down the line.

Liki: Full face sheild for sure!!!

Neirra: Its cool because im learning, and they are learning thru my mistakes. Laughing at them too!!!

riderofwaves: The fin is 11" with a 71/2" base 1/4" thick. Not sure how much it weighed before i glassed it on. It was purchased from Island Fin Design, its the IFN fin model.

Monkstar: Marc …This fin defintely creates drag. I researched a long time in the archives how to create drag for a good noserider. With the extra bottom roll, late tail kick, and pivot fin, this board turns better and smoother than my high performance 9’6". I emailed Tom Wegener for advice on setting the fin, and he told me no farther than 2 " from the tail with softer rails.

So you must be the biggest kid in that photo…

those bottom pins look awsome deck pins you see all the time and more often than not bottom pins that I see on boards dont really catch the eye or arnot the norm ive heard a lot of people say they dont like bottom pins those are some of the best ive seen thumbs up

Hicksy: I have a reputation around here for my immaturity. Boy at heart…

Nat: During this whole process, i really enjoyed the pin lining alot. I was going to leave the lap line showing on the bottom, but after doing the top I had to continue the look on the bottom. Roger Brukers Master Glassing video kind of inspired me to slap down the lines. I love pulling the tape!!!

you betcha. nothing like having a beer together & helping each other with laps or setting a fin. funny thing is, he asks for my help now more than i ask for his. especially with pinlines, he gets a little wobbly. lol!

Oldy: Great to here you guys have that close bond. Im hopful i can shere in those same experiences with my boys as i grow old.

“lifes good…”
