This tool is beyond INCREDIBLE…!!!..

I used it to cut balsa/cork rails yesterday…

PLENTY of power…!!!..

SMOOTH cuts…!!!..

LIGHTWEIGHT…!!!..

NO CORD…!!!..

I was using it on and off for over an hour with no need to change to a spare battery…

“Cord free” is worth twice the selling price…

$99.00 with spare blades, a battery & charger…

For you “foamheads”, this should be the industry standard…

Run, don’t walk and get one… You’ll thank me later…

Now if they can just come up with a 3x21 cordless belt sander…

Thanks for the review! I have thought about buying a cordless planer. I just came into a little bit of “she money” and might start looking for one. I guess if I paint it blue she wouldn’t know if it was the old Bosch planer or not. J/K

I got one around Dec or so and I love it! I usually use it when making more tail and nose rocker or taking out the waves in blanks before I bust out my Hitachi with the barrel. I sometimes use it banding rails. Lately I been using it to mow down stringers to prepare blanks for the APS3000. No doubt, a very cool tool to have…

Nice find !

I see some mods right away though…from the pics and descriptions…I see no problems with making the mods.I have no use for the jump plate/kickstand,and the depth ajustment knob could use a bit of redos…

Tell me this .if you may…Does the trigger have a continuous “on” button? or a safe start button?..And,what’s the width of cut?

I remember when Mr. Clean and myself were trying to come up w/ one… 3 or 4 teeth ago…but the wt.s were to heavy…at 7-8 lbs…that’s a great reduction in wt.s… compared… to what I was getting … like 15-20 lbs.

I’m all about modifying tools to my needs…

The kickstand is something I’ll be keeping…well designed…unobtrusive…

The safety start button is annoying at first…I’ll likely over-ride it…

Width of cut is a 3.25" spiral cut which is truly smoother, less impact on each hit of the blade…

cordless is a dream concept realized. but do you think it can be made to cut deeper… because the hitachi’s and skil’s cut 1/8", no? for a hundred bucks i should at least check it out.

Yes,All the planers I’ve used can be…as they say in hotrodding…opened up !

eg. My 06 Chevy thuck is rated at some 300 hp off the showroom floor…now after a few non-invasive tweeks…445 hp…you should see the faces on the guys trying to impressive there girl friends,in there new BMW/Audi…gas mileage went up from 16 ave.mpg. to 21 ave.mph…0-60 speeds…an impressive 4.7 seconds, and I plan on reducing that to 4 sec. or less…quick.

As far as the depth of the planer goes…it’s in the worm gear.

No cont. On…well that can be had…as far as the safe on button goes…remove it! or glue it…or tape it…

…no more safety button.

carbide sprial helical blades are something I had installed some years ago to 1/2 of my planer collection.Had them customed for me by a friend.

good cut…but I think the next chance at something like this…it’'ll be in high carbon steel instead.

Paul, thx, where’s a good place to good one?

Hey Greg,

I’m workin’ on your fins.

Anything you need to give me input on?

Here’s a good call for the Ridgid Planer.

If I was in the market for one I’d go for it for sure.

Mahalo, Rich

Hey That ebay one looked like it went for like 125.00 at Home depot they are 99.00

here is the depot link

http://www.homedepot.com/prel80/HDUS/EN_US/diy_main/pg_diy.jsp?CNTTYPE=PROD_META&CNTKEY=misc%2fsearchResults.jsp&BV_SessionID=@@@@0423772047.1154304245@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccdgaddihfidejdcgelceffdfgidgmm.0&MID=9876

I have even seen it at a few depots on clearance for 79.00 as well, Also if you order it in the store they ship it to the store for free Fyi

Plus the EVEN cooler toy is the cordless jigsaw if you are a person who uses the jigsaw to cut outlines the RIGID cordless one is unreal.

PM’d you.

just a heads up… i was at home depot yesterday. this planer

is going for $80 bucks and they have a free lifetime service plan

with it.

kinda weighty for my limp, spindly arms…

Yup

even picked one up for $79 right here in “price of paradise tax” Hawaii on clearance.

better than Harborfreight mail order with shipping.

Like Paul said no cords!

Yippee!

managing the hanging bungee vac hose was bad enough than having to worry about cutting your cord and getting electrocuted. Been there done than with the belt sander method…

Perfect for cleaning up solid rail bands or these semi complete hot wire cut EPS blanks…

Thanks for the heads up PJ

Hey Oneula just was wondering where you picked yours up from. I am thinking of purchasing one and if I could get one for $79 like you that would be a steal. Thanks.

Kalihi HD on Ala Kawa last one though…

I was in there picking up green and blue tape and some flush trim router bits when i saw it poking out from one of the shelves with a big clearance $79 sticker on it…

Might want to check Kapolei since they get less traffic than kalihi

Would be nice if they had a matching cordless trim router to go with it.

you could shape on the go in that case…

Imagine buying your EPS foam at HD and setting up your stands and shaping the damn EPS in their parking lot leaving the foam bubble mess right there for HD to clean up… But I’m sure they’d kick you out pronto. You could take your whole vacuum bag set up down to the beach and do the same thing there letting the bubbles blow all over the sand into the line up and onto the oiled up sunbathing tourists. That’ll be a good laugh and make everyone realize what a dirty business it is making those silly things they rent and ride… Eco terrosim thats’ it the beach ain’t just for the crack-heads anymore…

Like my bro always says… hey, why mess up my house when I can come over and mess up yours…

JUST KIDDING

If anybody cant find one There are a good amount in my area and I wouldnt mind securing one for you and shipping it out.

Ok So I got another one today,

And decided to take it apart, when you get in there its a pretty cheap design alot of plastic internal components structuraly not nearly as nice as the Hitachis. HOWEVER the depth adjustment is very easy to duplicate so it is about to get a bigger adjustment. I am also planning on cutting off that front knob on the handle and adding a depth adjustment knob similar to the newer hitachis. Possibly…but probably not when i do those mods, if the balance isnt right I may reposition the back handle.

The front shoe is very thin so adjusting it may get tricky in fact alot of the plastic is really thin.

The Tool however is pretty good as far as power, I would just worry about dropping it.

ALso I posted in october about the Hitachi version Its the same planer we use normally just cordless, same beast I may get on that project next.

Aloha,

Picked one up here on Maui about two weeks ago in the morning for $99 (last one). That afternoon they had a sign which showed it was marked down from $199 to $79, but none left for the friend who I sent down to get one. What’s up with the pricing??

Enjoy the ride?

Richard
