1st board done...where to glass in orange county?

how much does it usually cost to get a board glassed? its 7’…   also i have no idea about fin placement…will glassers place to fins?  and where should i go?   thanks  Erik

Groggy:
Goggle up “clearwater glassing” in Costa Mesa. Call and
ask your question about cost. When you go by to drop off
your blank, ask Ray Promer (the owner) for a price sheet.
His prices are all up front, and he will help you to place your
fins free of charge. Ray is one of the most stand-up guys
in the glassing buisness and he is willing to help any backyard
guy. If you’re lucky, you might even run into surfding or
many pro shapers that have their stuff done there!! Tell him
BKB sent ya! (no bro deals, tho, LOL)

thank you very much!!!

Another vote for Clearwater.  Ray helped me out with my fin placement as well, and my first shape turned out great!  Turnaround was very quick as well. Impeccable glass job.

Clearwater has a great reputation ive heard. Brad Basham is a great glasser as well. he is located down in san clemente, he glasses the boards i make and he never misses his 2 week deadline. you can probably go down to bashams and they will help you place the fins too.. just throwing that out as an idea if you are further south in orange county. at bashams a 7' board costs $170 for a poly glass job and fins ($150 without fins).

Hey Groggylbc,

Not sure where you’re located but there are FIVE (5) glass-shops to choose from with 100 yards of Foam E-Z.    Aloha (Steve Albin) is next door, while Stamps (Tim), Hoffman (Jason), Mystic (Gerson), and Guru Glassing are at the end of the street.  All of them are great guys and do great work.  It’s worth coming down and taking a tour of each shop to see which one is the best fit.  Feel free to stop by and we can point you in the right direction.  See you soon.

Good luck-

Brad

Or.....In the spirit of SWAYLOCK!! you could take off that pink dress..ALICE, and glass that lumpy shape of a surfboard yer self.

Man up, get some resin and some cloth, steal your mom's squeegee, and your dad's sand paper. Open the windows of your bedroom and get to work..........You came this far, you got her in bed....don't stop now, finish up, close the deal!!!!!!!  Try a resinswirl, and cut lap the bi-ch.   If you need help contact us, we can walk you through any problem known to surfboard, and mankind!!!!

GLASS IT, GLASS IT NOW!!!!!!!

Like Jay said instead of asking for glass shops you should be asking for swaylock friends in your area to help. They will show you the ropes, you won't have to rely on any shop to do youre work ever again. Take the dress off!!!

keep the dress on PLEASE....Mark and Jay are looking for a cheap thrill....but do glass it yourself

I don’t know…I’m kind of curious what’s under the dress…

how about a picture of the board

I could glass it for you, you pay for materials. and kick me lots of beer

what kind of glass job do you want?

I cant do any of that fancy stuff,,,,,, LOL!

I only do glass ons and  Probox's

If I'm not mistaken.....and I rarely am.  I think Ken just asked for a picture of the dress.....weird?

Glass it yourself. First boards are always crappy even though you probably think it is solid. Just glass it yourself and learn about the process. It'll make your first board very memorable.

Are you wearing a bonnet with the dress so you get sun burned, there are plenty of people that will help you with glassing. When you glass it yourself you can remove the dress but you have to keep the bonnet.

you guys are creeping me out!!!   thanks for the replies
