" I'll be installing a 2+1 fin setup on a fish (swallow tail) for a friend of mine - by 2+1 I mean 2 twin fins and a smaller trailing fin...
Has anyone installed these before? If so, what sort of layout have you used? Is it similar to a thruster layout? (in terms of dimensions of where the fins are located). "
hi Cayman !
mine had a back finbox , a bit far up from the tail to allow thruster configuration ...
but the side plugs were at 11" up , yes
[the back of the rear fin was far up , in comparison to a thruster's ...
6" [!] , instead of 3 - 3 1/2" up.
the fishes in question were 5'11 x 20 and 5'8 x 21 1/2
....yours ? [what dimensions ? And .... do you have a PHOTO of it you could post here , please ? ]
for a '2+1' setup , the fins I mainly tried were either a 6" back fin , with 3" side fins , or a 7" back fin , with 3 1/2 " side fins ,
or ,
with the 'twinny with trailer' setup . ....
5 " side fins , with a 3" or so box fin [back fin].... but a "nubster" type back fin 'could' work , too, mate ? ['Nocean' and I both have tried these ...his side fins are a bit larger , even ?! in fact , we both have the SAME templates .... thanks to Noe for sending me them !] There is a photo , on the 'my fin tinkerings' thread , if you want to check it out .
will you be putting in back fcs plugs ?
.... or [hopefully ! ] .... a FINBOX !!
... so you or your friend can ride it as a SINGLE fin , too !
[ I LOVE single fin fish !!]
okay , mate .... I hope this is helpful ?!
cheers !
