Thnx for posting the link!
Went to today’s boardroom show/icons of foam 2025.
A lot of very good entries for best of show. Very amazed at the craftsmanship on display.
Watched 3 shape off heats. Can these pros work their planers! I was pretty impressed by all of them. Of the three heats I watched, the following shapers advanced: Allen White, Dan Mann, and Richie Collins.
A lot of great booths. I am amazed at how many companies put out great quality surfboards. It overwhelms me, actually.
Joe Ropper’s booth stood out. This year marked his 50th year in business. He and his son Jo Jo, class acts.
Pete C. Had a great booth with a chronologically ordered display of Skil planers along with other planers, including some older manf./ models I have never seen before.
I can’t believe Grain’s fish wasn’t best in show.

I just saw the board that would have won “Best In Show” if he had been able to get it done in time. He’s a bit of a perfectionist so he kept doubling back on a lot of small things that cut into his timeline. John Witmer is the Builder/shaper/glasser. The board is a Composite of wood, EPS and Divinicell. He brought it by my shop last night to show me. It is awesome. Different and better than Grains boards. More true to form and function than any airbrushed artsy tribute to the mayor of San Clemente.
