Hi Chris,
amazing stuff. hats off to the courage of ordering 7 blanks and a power planer before having shaped board #1.
I’m into board #5 and still using a surfoam only. and I’m also shaping for friends who pay for materials…
nice shapes, can’t believe how well done for a number one. stoked for you!

hey everyone!
thanks for the nice words!
im plenty stoked, altough the way isnt an easy one, but whom do i tell that.
karl:
the power planer thing is a strange one at first. the part of shaping i still fear the most is the one where you hit the blank with the planer on full force to bring it to thickness, but after a while you get pretty comfortable with it and its just the most accurate tool in surfboard shaping. i did the rails of my last 2 boards with the surform only, and had a lot of fun doing it that way, but i noticed that i have a lot more work to do to get them even and more or less the same on both sides. the planer takes care of that issue. i can really recommend getting over the planer angst and giving it a go.
on the firts couple boards i was really worried about those deep planer ridges, and the blank looked like a battlefield, but they pretty easily sand out flat so i dont really care too much about that anymore.
its just a good tool, especially the clark mod. one.
take care everyone!
