3M Organic Vapor Cartridges

A friend of mine that does auto painting gave me a 3M respirator a while back. When are you supposed to scrap the old cartridges for new ones? Ive had the respirator for about a year, and probably have used it for around 4 hours or so all together. Is there a certain time frame or other way to tell when theyre spent?

If you’re using the respirator and can slightly smell the paint or resin or any other fume… it’s time to change the cartridge… of no odor is perceived, the filter is still working…
