Hey Guys,
just made a 4 finner longboard.
Lots of 4 finners have the fins all clustered together along the rails.
I made this one with the fins more centered, like the McKee fin setups.
This is my first one. Just wanted to share my formula since it seems to be working really well.
I based it off my 2 + 1 fin setup formula.
My front fins are 4.5 inches, and 16 inches up from tail.
THen I divided my usual center fin measurements into 2. Just split everything right in half.
So my center fin would normally be 9 inches up, and 8 inches deep.
My two rear fubs are stll 9 inches up, but are 4 inches deep, double foiled.
I
then centered them on each side, between the rail and the center of the
tail. So they are in from the rail a quarter of the way.
Mathematical. the whole rear fin split into 2 and it’s distance from the rail split into 2 as well.
Works really well. Lots of drive like a 2 + 1, without the over-finned stiffness that sometimes comes with that deign.
Anyone else use this formula?
