4 Fins , 8 channels

I made 2 of these at Island Snow in 1984

A 6’2" and a 6’10" . they went great  :-)

I routed the fins in back then , now we have FCS .

Similar to this 9 years ago , custom fins and channels .

Oh greg those are just things of beauty.  Clinkers have always given me a bit of a woody.

Somewhat softened inside corners instead of the hard angles?

They have an arc shape at the base .

If I made these deeper the FCS  plugs will not work .

Routing fins in I can go deeper .

What’s the difference in having the fins in the channels (like this one) vs. having them on top?

And another thing. What do channels do for you that a good set of find can’t di?

And another thing. What do channels do for you that a good set of fins can’t do?

Constant forward acceleration is one

Add that to a good fin set and  its a very good experience - things we look for from our toys  :-)

To offset the removal of planing surface a minimum of 6 is required to work best . 4 is not enough .

That is a thing of beauty my friend. You must have a lot of skill and patience. Two things I am sadly lacking!

Willing to lose money making fun stuff helps  :-)

Making beautiful things is good for the soul. It’s hard to put a price on that kind of satisfaction aye.

I think it was Confucius who said “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.”
