4oz. glass

Can I use 4oz bottom and 2x 4oz. top on longboards? Or is this not strong enough for the big boards?

single 6oz bottom % double 6oz. deck would be a much better choice. Unless of course your using epoxy. Mahalo, Rich

Actually, it also depends on the foam and stringer/s that you are using. If you are using a heavy foam (classic, regular, etc.) you may want to reduce the weight of the board by glassing it lighter. If you want to lighten up a LB 4 oz bott and 2X4 oz deck will do nicely. But if the foam is clark-green and below, don’t expect it to hold up. The result will be alot of dents on the deck, pretty much exactly what happens to your run of the mill shorty. Also, it will be weak, unless you have a thick stinger, so you run a higher risk of snapping the board in half. At my place we do 2-4’s deck 1-4 bott only on the really high-performance LBs (also combined with ultra-light foam from clark)… usually only teamriders use them. And we only expect them to last around 3 months tops. (They usually come back in one and a half months in two pieces though) But- they only weigh 10-11 lbs!

if you want your board to have heaps of heal dints in the deck after the first week of surfing and you want to get rid of the board in a year cause then get 4oz otherwise stick with 6oz.

a nice compromise would be 4oz bottom with 6 and 4 deck- we see that on performance boards a bit
