4oz plain weave? What did aI got?

Hello everybody!

Yesterday I got some 4oz plain weave cloth but it sure looks different from the usual stuff I have. The cloth is actually 105 grams, about 3,8 oz. I added some photos for the visuals. I was hoping the experts could tell me more cuz i’m puzzeled.

The cloth feels thinner and hs a denser weave than the 4 oz cloth I already had and is also a lot stiffer wich is probably no good when doing the laps.

Thanks in advance! Ruben

Howzit mook, What brand of fiberglass is it, Hexel,JPS,Etc. Most 4oz glass is actually 3.8 oz. Some fiberglass is made in foreign countries these days. My last roll of JPS was actually made in Brazil. Aloha,Kokua

…its very simple, that is not premium fiberglass made by Hexcel, Jps or Bgf

I have this type of glass fiber…its 2 oz and is volan

yeah its crap

I recommend you to laminate it with cut lap technique

The glass on the right is 4oz hexcel cloth, the new cloth I got? not sure, I can ckeck later. But bottomline:

Loose it, or us it?

…like I said in the other comment, is not a premium cloth, so be careful.

may be you ll get some dirty yarn (that now you dont see…) and others that dont saturate well…etc

and that greenish tan…

-also the bottom will be too fragile with one 2 oz…

anyway, if you go with this cloth, better cut lap and avoid other problems

if you can purchase the other ones, better

Looks like you’re being directed towards composite-skin boards by a Higher Power…

When Fate/God/Buddha/Allah gives you bad cloth…hide it under balsa!

Edit: couldn’t let any of the above go uncapitalized… And thank you Soulstice

sorry to be a stickler for the details, but muslims pray to allah…not mohammed. mohammed was the prophet. kinda like a muslim moses. not quite in the same class as g-d…or fate. and i mean no offense by my lack of capitalization…i’m just lazy.
