As a beginner shaper I have a question regarding the layout for the rail bands and the center rail line for shaping a 50/50 rail on a noserider: The blank is skinned and smoothed on deck and bottom, and sides are smoothed and sanded flat around the plan-shape of the blank. I was planning on drawing a center line along the side of the blank from nose to tail as a reference for the outermost point of the egg shape rail. Does this line run parallell exactly between the deck and bottom or is this line located off center toward the bottom edge as a result of the deck being more domed than the flatter bottom? I assume centered as it’s referred to as 50/50??? Am I on track. Any advice will help. Thanks much!
