50/50 waveskate dimensions

has anyone ridden or made one of these? how are they different than a small wave board? post dimensions if you have them.

the one I got was swapped to me by my friend, a 5’ 7" . Its like 3 inches thick and 21 inches wide, 16 in round tail with a bump, 14 in nose . . . guesstimating . … I didn’t have time to bust out the ruler. It’s thick like a cruiser longboard. Lots of foam.

Read the reviews at surfermag … . It rides like a skateboard. You can do little chop hops and stuff. It carves, but not as well as my Flyer (Merrick, and this is a 6’6") and the rails are very thick. It’s fast, but jerky feeling. But its cool you can do ollies down the face of the wave. And it releases like nothing. You can easily fly off the back of the wave or spin out.

It’s a different feeling. Sux, my friend took it back. I was considering getting one . . . Oh one thing, it doesn’t work in mush, like a Flyer does. It can work in small waves, but with some face on them. In something fast and hollow, like near beach break close out’s it will lose control fast (low tide at the break we were at). But if the waves are like Trestles type, slower, and nice peeling walls it’ll be fun (high tide at the same break).

Thanks for the reply.

How about the rocker and rails?

Are they relatively flat? Are the rails harder or softer?

No rocker, it’s pretty flat. The one I rode was the IIII model . . . The rails are soft close to 50-50 egg rails, taper to hard around the tail, and tail is an edge. It had a concave deck in it, really nice on the feet. Did I say they were thick? I mean they are really thick. Look at a Merrick 6’2 Fish, and its thicker than that.

Ask Ben Wei (shaper) to send you a DVD with stuff on it . . . Shoot him an email, he’s posting on the surfermag forum.
