Hi solo,

I don’t like the lines much on that board.  I never cared for wings and bumps.  The tail comes to an abrupt finish that is displeasing to my eye.  I have a friend that surfs Pautsh 6-10 toob riders for as long as I’ve known him(15 years). Very nice clean shapes that have inspired me to attempt to replicate.  Without much success, however.  Is there a reason you posted this board in particular?  Mike

I tend to post them when they come out and when I get pictures. This was a custom… ordered to the customer’s liking. I like Double bumps on singles with wider tails. I like closed tails for thrusters personally.    Pautschy has another template that is a single wing swallow that is really nice.  GP shaped it for years before the old Fireball fish, but it’s sort of like that.

Hi solosurfer -

I kind of like it even if it is far too small for me.  Reminiscent of some Terry Fitzgerald tails I was looking at recently...

I like the Fitz outlines also. I don’t know him, but I spoke with him about them a few years back at a trade show. I like his fast bottoms concept.

super similar to the mccoy my brother bought off the rack in florida in 1985 (i think?), but his had huge twins and a slightly different tail break accomodating the fin placement.  tail on that one slightly reminiscent of the surtech zap 5’10" i just measured up last week, but with narrower hips and less droopy butt.

great board.  it takes me back in history to a time when i was small enough to ride stuff that short.

thanks for sharing solo.

It would look similar to the Tech. It was ordered to be a first generation zap with three fins. This the type of tail break thatCheyne rode in 93 when he was sponsored by pro shapes. His was  square tail, but the tail break was similar.

Long time no hear Church.  I usually catch your updates on the Independent surfer.  Put a few on there for you to read recently.

I'm Liking the tail of that board!  Keeping it wide with a nice curve yet dropping it at the last few inches of foam to give it some bite.  with more leath to the board say 7 foot to 8'6" You could put more curve make a add some foam for float. A Board for us old out of shape guys.   This could be an anti "Fun Board." I really think most "Fun Boards are crap and shapers get very lazy when thinking about mid leath boards.

Back in the 1970's for a few years all my boards were winged swallow tails.  Now I'm more inclined towards winded round pin tails.

I own a 6’8’’ very similar shape, but single.  Agree on anti fun board. To me if you want to ride a board similar to a shorty and your big you ride a Zap or big guy thruster…which the very first thruster was anyway.  I’m with you on fun boards. I never liked the generic shapes of the ones they put out with that label.  I hated the name also because it was invented to belittle any other surfboard but the accepted status quo.   I have had folks call double enders and eggs fun boards and my response is always…I hope so.  What is yours? Not fun?
