5'10" Lis Fish

Hello All,

I am new to shaping and enjoying the benefits of this site. With the help of a good friend I will be attempting to shape my first board on Friday. I have all the necessary tools (I believe) but was hoping someone would have a downloadable 5’10" Lis Fish template. It would make life so much easier for me. If someone has a template they are will to share, please PM me.

Thanks,

David

Do a search under under a book called Surfboard Design and Construction. You will find a Steve Lis fish on page 28 and 29.

here is a link to the design and construction pdf

Thanks for this info, I actually have it already. Very insightful. I was really looking for a template I could print out and use for the initial shape. I am considering just paying greenlight or drawing myself. Unless someone here has one they could email???

Regards,

David

Check with Rooster, he sent me a couple templates a few years ago.

One vote for drawing it yourself, you’ll learn more and the design will be ‘‘yours’’. Plenty of info on here as to how …

dgraham,

I’m happy to mail anyone templates. I cant get it done by this Friday or email them. I just trace them onto a piece of paper and send them. Mike D’s advice is solid, as usual. Mine have evolved over the years to suit me, but you can move them around and combine them with other curves to get something that is ‘yours.’ I have one I traced directly from a Steve Lis. Even that has distortion, though, do to tracing a 3D object onto a 2D plane. Mike
