5'7" Twin-Keeled Fish

finished my latest project in the deep, late hours last night, a little 5’7" twin keeled fish, just in time for summer. my first go at shaping & glassing a traditional fish & as always i got lots of info from the swaylocks archives. thanks to everyone in the generous swaylocks community who share their ideas & their stoke.

i had that joyful, personal, fulfilling moment that we all know & love this afternoon: christening my creation in saltwater, stroking into that first clean wave on a surfing tool that i envisioned & designed & built, standing, trimming, turning, smiling. life is good & every breath a gift.

Nice lookin board oldy. Good job.

wow , well done !

and very timely to , as I need some ideas of template / outline for the 5’8 kneelo strip down .

so you shaped , glassed , pigmented , made the fins , [?leash loop, too?] , and pinlined it ?

woohooo!

what are the nose , tail , width and keel sizes , please , if you don’t mind me asking ??

and how wide is the tail tip to tip ?

cheers !

ben

tail: 18 & 1/2"

thickness: 2 & 3/4"

glass: double 6oz. deck, 6oz + 4oz bottom

i hope this info helps.

thanks a lot mate !

VERY helpful indeed …my existing kneeboard is wider than that, so I’d be able to make something very similar …

I forgot to ask before …

how deep was the swallow/ fishtail [ie the “buttcrack” as they call it here ?]

and , how far up from the tail tip to the back edge of the keels ?

cheers !

ben

buttcrack depth: 5 & 1/2"

leading edge of keel: 5 & 3/4" from centre

trailing edge of keel: 6" from centre & 6 & 1/2" from tail

toe: 1/4"

cant: 3 degrees
