my plan to make a 6’6" fish has changed to making a 6’2" fish because of available blanks. what are some good dimentions for this particular board?
Walker makes a 6’8" Fish Blank.
What size person, and years/ability of surfing?
i am 5’11", 160 lbs and my longboarding experiance is a little over a year but my shortboard experince is practically zero.
make a 5’11 or 6’0.
im 6’2 190lbs, and when i was going to make my first board i was in your shoes…a year or so on a longboard, wanted a fish, so i made a 6’4…its HUGE.
it worked well for me for a few months, but now i cant even turn it and i dont know why…all i know it that a big fish is a big board!
It depends on what you want out of the board and the wave you’ll generally ride it in,also materials play a big part…
…I’m 138# @ 5’-9" I ve surfed for over 40 years starting w/ beater 40-50 pounders to boards as small as 4’-9"…and just about everything inbetween.
My fav lengths for my hybrid fish types are from 5’-7" to 6-2…in either poly or styro.
but to give you an idea of what I’m building for myself now is 6-4 ,20.5,16n, 16.5 tail…2-3/4 thick…styro…it will weigh in at 8.5 pounds when done.
like I said…what do you want it to do for you?
