6'2" Hovercraft for Cyril

Cyril has been getting a few boards from me lately .

Good surfer longtime friend  :-)

I call these Hovercraft from ride reports and my intent .

This  is my answer to the Mini Simms market  like my Modern Fish was to the Fish market .

A board with a very large range in wave size .

At 6’2" x 22 1/2" x 3 1/8" this is the largest I make in this model

Foil and Rocker Shots

Even with this wide of a tail the template has release for control from center .

Staged Low rocker for speed and  controled lift , Flat bottom maximises that rocker with lift , plane and release all tru the tail .

Rocker at Apex

Rocker at mid tail

Rocker at middle of fins

Tri fins

Optional Keels

Foiled tucked edge rail shape is part of what enables this board to ride larger waves in control

The wide bases plane and the area loss controls that planing effect at all speeds .

nice !

the keels you made from G10 also , Greg ?

nice to see comprehensive photos of a board , people neglect the foil and rocker shots sometimes eh !

  cheers

  ben

Yes they are made with G-10 , this tan color is slightly lighter and more flexable - slightly  :-)

The designed in area release in my templates are complimented with the rigidity of G-10 retaining the waves energy - Mo Go  ;-)

good stuff

G10 is easy to get there , then ?

Not so , here , unfortunately . I would LOVE to make some G10 fins , "one day "!

  cheers

  ben

Sh…t Ben. I forgot and apologize.  I’ll get some on the way Monday.  Mike

That’s a neat, creative little board, too, Greg.  Mike

I have it shipped from the mainland , costly

A pretty standard material , should be easier for you to get .

Is that for Cyril Huddy? Grew up with Cyril at Shark Country. I think Bernie is waiting for one of these babies.

It costs twice as much as rocking-horse shit over here.

Pretty cheap from China but the shipping/clearance is ridiculous!

Yes it is Mr Huddy’s  :-)

I was invoiced for Bernie’s yesterday meaning its ready for pick up and fin making .

Looks like someone’s going to have fun!

Cyril should pick his up, supposed to be a small bump at white plains tomorrow per Surfline (3-4) head high to a bit overhead all do to a big west northwest coming tomorrow.

on a big west wrap at white plains/fenceline/five-oh’s that board should fly

ben if mike can’t get you a panel or two let me know I’m sitting on a dozen 15"x15" panels here. The mailing problem is the weight of those things thta’s what drives the cost up.

can’t really do much these days with this shoulder issue constant pain and growing limited motion.

just gotta wait i guess

He picked it up yesterday and said he was going to ride it .

Lots of " Story"  coming  :-)

he was there in the beginning of all this with Dane who he looked up to.

he knows the story and he knows the truth

plus we grew up togethor although he was just a baby grom back then

i glad you two got hooked up again

I’m sure he’ll be raising eyebrows out there with his new boards

probably to george’s chagrin

be real funny if he got george(not george gall) to order a board from you

Bernie , this is the kind of " Story" I speak of much more coming too as you know  . Beach side talk .  :-)

Cyrils first ride :

Took it out for the first time this morning. As soon as I opened the hatch of my car the responses was, ooh, ahh, wtf, sick and of course who shaped it. The waves were solid 3’ and the first wave I caught was a right hander and the board just flew! I couldn’t believe how easy it caught waves and the response was incredible! Loose, fantastic drive and all I had to do was keep up with the board! The turns and maneuverability were insane! Paddles well! Can’t wait to take it out tomorrow morning! Thank you Greg!

“and the board just flew!”       - - - Hovercraft

Greg, beautiful board. Those fins look way back and close to the tail.

OK, now I remember the Hover Craft.  And with Sharkcountry’s testimonial on the other thread, I am fighting the urge to call GG.

This is Cyril riding his Hovercraft at Shark Country a couple of weeks ago.
