6'3'' and 6'5'' question

Well, looks like this time i will be shaping 3 boards at the same time! Another friend of mine and a friend of his asked me to shape them some boards (after seeing the 7’8’’ i finished last week, they all seem to be interested), so in addition to the 9’1’’ longboard, i will be shaping a 6’3’’ and a 6’5’', that will be my fifth and sixth boards. I got all the details of what to do for the longboard in my other thread, and just want to check with you guys about the 2 new boards. Sorry for being such a pain in the a… with all my questions, but i never expected so many friends asking for boards, and i still have a lot to learn!!!

Well let’s start with the 6’3’':

The guy is 27 yo, 5’7’’ and 173 Lb, average surfer, does cutbacks and off the lips alot, and an eventual tube. He wants his board to be fast, and easy to maneuver. He will be ridding the board in strong waves, most of the time not very hollow but he also rides another spot that is (supertubos in Peniche) but he wont be ridding this board in big surf (he will be riding bellow 1,5 m), he has another board for that. He wants a swallow tail in his board.

I was going for 6’3’‘-18 1/2’’ (at 2 1/2’’ behind center) - 2 1/5’’ (is this to thin?)

10 4/5’’ wide for nose and i got no clue for the tail width.

Rolled deck and 50/50 rails

For bottom contour I have no clue of what to do, maybe flat with slight vee in the fins or single concave. What would be the ideal bottom for this board? Once again i remind, he does cutbacks and off the lips alot, and an eventual tube and wants his board to be fast, and easy to maneuver. What will work best?

Rocker around 5 1/4’’ for the nose and 2.375’’ for tail.

Fins:

Side fins at 10.85’’ from tail, 1’’ from rail, 0.175’’ toe in, 4º cant

Center fin at 3.2’’ from tail

And now for the 6’5’'!

This board is for a guy that is 26 yo, 5’7’’ and 152 lb, beginer (just drops and makes the bottom turn and after that he just goes in a straight line). He rides the same spots the other guy surfs but when it’s smaller (up to 1m).

He learned on a 6’4’', but thinks it is to thin and not wide enough, he want a more stable and easy to padle (to catch waves) board.

The guy wants a round tail on his board.

I was aiming at 6’5’’ - 20’’ - 2 3/8’’ (is this thick enough?)

No clue on the nose and tail width, hoping i got some sugentions from you guys!

Slightly rolled deck with 50/50 rails, thicker than the ones in the 6’3’'.

For bottom contour i was thinking of maybe a single concave (not sure if it will work on this board, and not sure where to place it either).

Not sure about rocker!

Fins, same placement as on the 6’3’’

Side fins at 10.85’’ from tail, 1’’ from rail, 0.175’’ toe in, 4º cant

Center fin at 3.2’’ from tail

Once again, thanks to all of you for your precious help, don’t know what i would do without you guys!

Just a general overview, since you have specifics pretty down…

First guy, make the rails harder, the tail rocker slightly flatter, and the nose rocker flatter, for speed. Obviously, he can already turn.

The second guy needs the soft round rails, forgiving, some more volume, and more nose and tail rocker, for an EASIER ride so he can work on his vertical surfing.

Now take a quick peek at their current boards for volume comparison, deck shape, and overall size.
