7’2” Allan Gibbons

So I stumbled onto this in a barn/shop that I was called out to do some work on. Agreed to clean it up and fix for the owner’s father. Supposedly his dad and his uncle each made one in the 80’s. On a closer look I found some writing along the stringer and what I assume is the shapers signature.

Old Allan gibbons, that’s pretty cool. Are you asking about the shaper or just showin the find?

I know a little bit about him. I think he was at CI before Hoyt or PJ. He used to post on here once in awhile. That old thread I brought back up had a couple of comments by him. I think we made him mad and he left. Ego. I know my former “alter-ego” offended him at least once. Don’t even remember what about and it was definitely before I knew who he was. Whatever it was nothing meant to be offensive. Just sarcastic humor. Thin skins. But I have bruised a few Egos over the years. I never knew much about CI before Hoyt went down there from Pismo. Then I think Hoyt got PJ and Aaron on there. PJ would drive down in his van and bring a load home to AG. Scrub them and take them back in a few days. Me and those two are out of the same generation in Five Cities. PJ originally from Orcutt. Aaron from Oceano. I lived mostly in Pismo and Oceano, but would leave for a few years at a time. I shaped a few when I was a kid, but didn’t get back into it until the 90’s and never scrubbed for anybody. What do you know about him?

This is the board. Fix the dings, put a fin on it, clean it up.

Doesn’t look like much, but it will look better when I’m done.

Ride report?

Fixin’, not Ridin’. Too old and fat . Something to think about; It’s a 40 year old stick.
