I’ve come across a late 70’s 5’8 fish shaped by a Richard Luthringer at a NJ garage sale. Anyone have a clue who this guy is/was??? Any help would be greatly appriciated…
Why its the ‘Antiques Surfboard Roadshow’ !
Bring in any dust-puppy un-loved surfboard from 15 or more years ago
and see if you’ve won the Garage Sale Lottery.
See if our board of experts can identify the value of your valueless surfboard.
On this show we basically tell you you’ve paid too much for that outdated, and 50 years
from being a treasure, surfboard.

I went to college with Amy Luthringer, who is either his daughter or neice (I think neice). I can’t tell you much about the boards besides she had a board shaped by him, maybe a 6’8" or 6’10" that was half-shortboard, half-funboard, and all fun. Unfortunately I have fallen out of contact with her, but wish I hadn’t because she is a very cool cat, fun to surf with, and all-around great human being.

Dude, I know the thing is basically worthless, I paid $7 for it. I was just curious about it’s origins and figured someone on here may have a clue. All I want to do is fix it up and zip it down some little waves.
I believe he’s still around and working.
I was chatting with a guy a few weeks ago who rides an 11’ shaped by him and he said he had just placed another order. There is a shop in Toms River NJ who sells his boards too.

Awesome! thanks!
troyjensen- which shop? I feel like I should know this since I grew up in TR and now live in Lavallette. I’d like to check them out.
I went to High School with Rich. He is an architect in the Toms River area. The last time I saw him was when I was teaching at Ocean County Vo-tech. He came to my Cabinetmaking class as a guest shaper and showed a student of mine his methods. A really nice guy in my opinion. The board that you have was probably sold out of Grog’s Surf Palace.
